Hard & Soft Landscape Design

Bodnant Welsh food Centre - Following a successful planning application, the detailed design of this prestigious, award winning development, saw both hard and soft detailing.  Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, modern yet sympathetic hard landscape detailing was achieved to surround the newly refurbished barns and former stables. Complex level changes were dealt with using a series of steps and ramps, carefully designed to fit into the historic former working farm environment.  Minimal ecological disturbance on the bat habitat was achieved and the scheme provided bee-friendly planting for the on-site National Bee Keeping Centre.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Environmental Improvements - The regeneration of the main high street, station car park and two other car parks in Blaenau Ffestiniog tells the story of slate and its importance within the local heritage is reflected within the hard landscape detailing.  Slate signage with lettering etched into the slate, directs visitors from the cars parks towards the shopping areas.

The scheme aimed to encourage greater use of the high street from visitors arriving by train or car and thus also boost more spending in the shops and cafes alike.  A local artist was engaged to create a series of slate focal points, which draw the public up into the high street.

Anglesey Coastal Environment Project Hard and soft landscape masterplans were prepared for a number of coastal sites around Anglesey, as part of the Anglesey Coastal Environment Project. This was followed by detailed design proposals, construction drawings and site supervision.  Amlwch town square, for example, was improved through revised parking proposals, traffic management and hard landscaping; with links to the copper industry reflected in the choice of paving materials and street furniture.
